Safety warning

I'm passing on this warning to my loyal reader. I stole... thieved... got this from Rini's journal.

WARNING: Due to the rising frequency of human-bear encounters, the B.C. Fish and Wildlife Branch is advising any persons that use the out-of-doors in a recreational or work related function to take extra precautions while in the field.

We advise the outdoorsman to wear little noisy bells so as to give advanced warning to any bears that might be close by so you don't take them by surprise. We also advise anyone using the out-of-doors to carry "Pepper Spray" with him or her in case of an encounter with a bear.

Outdoorsmen should also be on the watch for fresh bear activity, and be able to tell the difference between black bear shit and grizzly bear shit. Black bear shit is smaller and contains lots of berries and squirrel fur. Grizzly bear shit has bells in it and smells like pepper.

Thank you for your cooperation :)

Weekend fun

Friday: Went to Lolligag's and celebrated his 30th birthday. He is now officially old. :-) Hung out, ate good food, drank a bit. Had a muchly fun time!

Saturday: GAY PRIDE PARADE!! Went to the parade with some friends. The parade started at 2 (2:15, but who's counting?). According to the paper, about 5000 people were there to watch. The weather was beautiful, the floats impressive, and the guys hot. I took about 180 digi pics of the parade. As the parade passes, it picks up anybody willing to march in the "mass of humanity". We joined in the group. It was cool.
Two groups of protestors hung out along the route. One group of five, and another of two. I snapped about 7 pics of them (hey, they were filming us! Fair's fair, right?). Those photos are some of the best of the collection.

After the parade, there was the business fair (trade show)/beer garden/stage. They had speakers, singers(?), and a drag show or two. They also had two demonstrations put on by the gymnastics groups 'Edmonton Pride Squad' and 'CHEER San Francisco'. Impressive work.

Was a great weekend.

Now, back to work tomorrow. Ugh.

Brilliant!

Something that every deployed soldier has to deal with is lonliness. Distance from their family and friends. Email has become the most common way for soldiers to communicate with their loved ones. Unfortunately, most email services available to them can't handle much in the way of attachments (photos and vid clips from family).

However, there is one that is suitable. Google's Gmail service.

Some people have come up with an excellent idea. Tons of people have been given multimple invites to use this service. Why not donate these invites to soldiers who could really use them?

For more info, click here.

It's a damn good idea.

Simple pleasures.

Sitting in a quiet car, listening to music, reading, in the rain.

Picked my maternal unit up from work last night. Had to wait because the meeting she was in went into overtime. Didn't mind in the slightest. Got to spend some quiet time, doing the stuff I mentioned earlier.

Excercise stuff.
Wed: 45 min at the gym, better part of an hour lugging heavy stuff at work (monitors)
Thurs: 1 hr at the gym.

Post 100!!

Whoa. Who woulda thunk it? 100 posts.
Cool.

I would like to make a small request of everybody who lives in this country. Monday, June 28 is our federal election. GET UP OFF YOUR ASS AND VOTE. Canada has piss-poor election turnouts. Let's change that this time around!
I will not tell you who I think you should vote for. That is something personal for you to decide on. All I ask is that you do some simple research of the candidates\parties in your riding, and make an INFORMED vote.

Countless people have died to give you the opportunity to vote. Make the most of it!

Excercise today: About 85min at the gym
40 min on the elliptical trainer (20 cardio, 20 fat burn), 45 min on the various muscle group machines.

WHY?!?!?!?!?!

"Attention XYZ customers. The time is now XX:XX, and the store is closed. Please bring all purchases to the front tills at this time. Thank-you for shopping at XYZ, and have a good evening."

Translation: "It's closing time. We, the staff have lives. Said lives DO NOT include waiting for you as you putter around our store after it's closed. We want to live these lives. So, please... PICK YOUR SH#T UP, AND GET THE F#CK OUT!!! Thank-you."

*sigh*

Anyways... Enough about that. Time to put on some music and read.
