Homeward bound and blogging at 30,000 feet

Well, the trip is over. I’m on the Air Canada flight home. We just took off about ten minutes ago, and I should be hugging my boyfriend in about 90-100 minutes. *grins* From what the pilot said before take off (expect a smooth flight), the weather is going to be just spiffy for the entire flight home. I have to admit that some rain and what-not would be cool because I actually enjoyed the bump and bounce of turbulence, and the pyro lightning show was amazing to watch.

Let’s see… Having spent Monday evening with Sherri, I spent Tuesday in the seminar, and then the evening was spent with my family. I got to see a Brit Comedy that I had never heard of. It’s called “My Family”. It was really funny, and the mother is played by the actress who plays the flying instructor/Quiddich ref in the Harry Potter movies. Gotta see if I can get it on the channels at my place (it was on PBS Detroit). I crashed on their sofa for the night. Not the greatest plan in the world. Like any sofa, it’s great for cat-naps. A full night’s sleep? Not so much. I was able to borrow my parent’s car so that I could putter around town while my dad was at work. I spent a couple of hours at the west end store and chatted with a bunch of people that I haven’t seen in about 13 months. At noon, I abducted a couple of them and went out to meet Jasmine for lunch at Dadeo. It was a WONDERFUL time! The jokes and fun insults were as if I never even left. We were just as goofy as I was the last time we all hung out.

*blogging briefly interrupted by the flight crew distributing snacks and drinks*

The evening was spent with my “adopted” family having a really yummy fondue and some wine. Cheese & bread, meat & vegetable broth, followed up with chocolate & fruit for dessert. Oh, and of course, we had the much needed bottles of red wine to go with it. I crashed there for the night (in a REAL bed). This morning/afternoon was spent with my “adopted” mom. We went for lunch at Dadeo (it’s not a restaurant. It’s an addiction), and sat around chatting for a bit before heading to the airport.

A trip through airport security, and I’m on the plane. Now we’re at now. And I really don’t have much more to say about anything, really, because not much of anything is happening. Oh, two in-flight observations. One: airplane tray tables aren’t designed for laptop computers (unless you have one of those really tiny, really expensive ones). Two: It’s somewhat amusing just how many laptops you see on a mid-day/early evening flight like this (takeoff time was about 5:30pm MTN time). Arrival at YVR is about 6:15PM, PST. Not bad for an hour and some-odd flight. ;-)

An odd thought just occurred to me. I should load up a porn-ish picture or movie (Queer as Folk, anyone?) just to see if I can make people squirm. *evil grin*

Well, that basically sums up my “day in the life-ish post” for my trip. See you soon!

I am leaving on a jet plane…

I have a rough idea of when I’ll be back again.

Editor’s note: This post was started on Sunday evening (July 9) at the Vancouver airport, and completed on Monday in the locations listed below.

Wow. It’s already been a full month and a bit since Tommy and I started dating. He’s still as sweet as ever! A couple of weeks ago, he and I went to Playland for the evening (Playland being the local amusement park/fairgrounds). As I’m sure a few of you know, I’m not overly fond of the faster rides (spinny, twirly, or droppy). Well, at Tommy’s urging, I went on the log ride with him. Six or so rides of it later... :) Toss in a couple of rounds on some of the slightly, although not overly spinny rides, and it was a load of fun. *grin*

One of the things I like the most about Tommy is the fact that he has a good head on his shoulders. We can play a game of chess, or have a REALLY good conversation on a ton of different topics. w00t!

In other news, I’m typing this post (for later posting) in the lobby of my Edmonton hotel. The company I work for has sent me here for two days (Sun night to Tues night) for a training seminar. I have to admit that I’m rather impressed. The seminar actually has some GOOD content in it and isn’t a waste of time! *shock and awe* The REALLY cool part of this trip is that I asked my boss to extend my return flight back by two nights so that I could spend a couple of evenings with family. I wish that I could be here longer so that I can spend more time with friends and family, but that isn’t an option. *cries* But, on the whole, this is turning out to be a good trip.

Anyways, I’ve gotta bugger off for dinner. Catch ya later, and I’ll be back on Thursday evening.

Back from dinner, and I have time to continue the post before I go to bed.

Time for some more about the trip here. Getting here was a mild adventure. Read: Exercise in frustration. Alberta was experiencing a nice assortment of thunderstorms, tornadoes, and other similar fun stuff. As such, air travel through a good chunk of western Canada (and a bit of the US) was delayed. Our plane (Air Canada) was supposed to leave at about 7:15pm. Our plane was coming in from Calgary, and the weather delayed it. As such, we didn’t take off until about 830pm. However, the flight was fun! We had some turbulence to keep things entertaining (I rather enjoy the bumps and shakes of turbulence). As if that wasn’t enough, we went right through a thunderstorm during our descent into Edmonton. During said storm, the wingtip was hit by a few lightning zaps. THAT was cool!! :) Another upshot was that the flight crew did a good job.

After dinner (a few of us went to West Edmonton Mall), I spent a couple of hours hanging out with Sherri. Things are going great for her, and I am INCREDIBLY happy about that! She definitely deserves to have some good karma events in her life. She’s such an awesome person. Leaving from her place sucked the big suck. I miss her so much, and it’s only been an hour since we parted.

On that note, I’m going to bed.
