Happy New Year!

I hope you all have a great and SAFE time.

If you plan on drinking, don't do anything stupid like getting behind the wheel of a car.
Keep the phone number of a friend/family memember handy. If that doesn't work, most transit systems are probably free tonight, call a cab, or use a Keys Please service of some kind.

After all, I think it would be great if I could wish you a happy new year as 2004 wraps up. :-)

Now, go and have some fun! May you all have an amazing year!

*hugs for all*

One more trip around the sun.

That's 24 of them things. Yup. Hit 24 today. Spent most of the day at work. Didn't do much of anything other than that, and I couldn't be happier. Watched a dvd and relaxed. I like. Muchly. Except for the work. Coulda done without that today.

It's spreading around the blogs like wildfire, so here's what Santa (family and friends) gone done brung me.
-A nice assortment of movies (LOTR: TTT extended, X2, Bruce Almighty, Finding Nemo)
-2 etched wine glasses and a bottle of Chilean red wine.
-Various chocolate items (yum!)
-Xbox games (Matrix and Grand Theft Auto double pack)

T gave me the dvd LXG, a Queer as Folk 'romance' calendar (currently on the wall behind me), and this AMAZING sweater. Not only does it look great, but it is also comfy, soft, and warm.

Wanna know something cool?

Today marks the 100 year anniversary of the first flight made by the Wright brothers.
100 years.
Wow.

Here is but one article on it.

On that note, I present you with the lyrics to the Star Trek: Enterprise theme.

Where My Heart Will Take Me, by Dianne Warren

It’s been a long road, getting from there to here.
It’s been a long time, but my time is finally near.
And I can feel the change in the wind right now. Nothing’s in my way.
And they’re not gonna hold me down no more, no they're not gonna hold me down.

Cause I’ve got faith of the heart.
I’m going where my heart will take me.
I’ve got faith to believe. I can do anything.
I’ve got strength of the soul. And no one’s gonna bend or break me.
I can reach any star. I’ve got faith, faith of the heart.

It’s been a long night. Trying to find my way.
Been through the darkness. Now I finally have my day.
And I will see my dream come alive at last. I will touch the sky.
And they’re not gonna hold me down no more, no they're not gonna change my mind.

Cause I’ve got faith of the heart.
I’m going where my heart will take me.
I’ve got faith to believe. I can do anything.
I’ve got strength of the soul. And no one’s gonna bend or break me.
I can reach any star. I’ve got faith, faith of the heart.

I’ve known the wind so cold, I’ve seen the darkest days.
But now the winds I feel, are only winds of change.
I’ve been through the fire and I’ve been through the rain.
But I’ll be fine...

Cause I’ve got faith of the heart.
I’m going where my heart will take me.
I’ve got faith to believe. I can do anything.
I’ve got strength of the soul. And no one’s gonna bend or break me.
I can reach any star. I’ve got faith, faith of the heart.
Cause I’ve got faith of the heart.

I’m going where my heart will take me.
I’ve got faith to believe. I can do anything.
I’ve got strength of the soul. And no one’s gonna bend or break me.
I can reach any star. I’ve got faith, faith of the heart.

Purdy little rant.

On the UserFriendly message board, there was a post in regards to some religious nutbar in the states who was pissed off over something.

Well, the post started a nice little discussion. Normally for these chats, I tend to respond in a very calm, restrained fashion (if I respond at all). For some reason or another, I felt the need to reply in rant form. This rant was liked by a few people. As such, I feel like posting it here for the heck of it. Enjoy!

I so often hear religious groups (ALL religious groups) speaking about rights. Their right to believe what they want, their rights not to have their beliefs trampled on by the secular portions of society, and so on.

I don't mean to offend (too much), but stuff a sock in it.

I grew up in the classic Christian home. Every Sunday, we went to church. There, I would hear the pastor speak about how 'alternative lifestyles' were responsible for the failure of so many marriages. I would hear that being gay is a horrible sin.

Eventually, I got sick of hearing his crap, and left. I don't know how gay people reconcile their faith with their gayness, but I couldn't. (For those that do, kudos to you!)

All that being said, I have a question. You speak of rights, so here goes:
WHAT ABOUT MY RIGHTS??
-My right to live my life free from pulpit persecution?
-My right to live my life without you trying to force your beliefs down my throat?
-My right to live with who I want? To love who I want? To MARRY who I want?

You want your rights? Well, you've got them. Now shut up and let me have mine!!!

Weekend stuff

Had a rather pleasant weekend. A fact that I'm am quite happy about.

Friday: After work, I hung out with Mike at Woodys. We drank a couple of drinks, played three rounds of pool (the last game REALLY sucked), and chatted. We started at about 10pm, and before we knew it... 150am. A good way to spend an evening.

Saturday: Spent some time with some friends that I haven't seen in several months. Chatted, ate food, drank pop. Plenty o' fun.

Sunday: T day! Spent the afternoon shopping, then had a leisurely tea. After that, we went back to his place to watch some tv. It was GREAT to be with him. :-)

Let's do the time warp again...

Friday Five, delivered fresh on Monday.

1. Do you like to shop? Why or why not?
Yes. Sometimes a bit too much. I have an ever-growing collection of... well... stuff. Computer gear, books, cds, dvds. More stuff than I have space for.

2. What was the last thing you purchased?
A bottle of windshield washer fluid. Pretty blue color, and good to -40! :-)

3. Do you prefer shopping online or at an actual store? Why?
In store. I like to touch things. Feel the fabric, try the size, read the book cover, etc.

4. Did you get an allowance as a child? How much was it?
I did, but I honestly don't recall how much it was.

5. What was the last thing you regret purchasing?
Oy, vey. I don't remember. I think it was an article of clothing a couple of months ago.
