Purdy little rant.
On the UserFriendly message board, there was a post in regards to some religious nutbar in the states who was pissed off over something.
Well, the post started a nice little discussion. Normally for these chats, I tend to respond in a very calm, restrained fashion (if I respond at all). For some reason or another, I felt the need to reply in rant form. This rant was liked by a few people. As such, I feel like posting it here for the heck of it. Enjoy!

Time to jump into the pool.

I so often hear religious groups (ALL religious groups) speaking about rights. Their right to believe what they want, their rights not to have their beliefs trampled on by the secular portions of society, and so on.
I don't mean to offend (too much), but stuff a sock in it.
I grew up in the classic Christian home. Every Sunday, we went to church. There, I would hear the pastor speak about how 'alternative lifestyles' were responsible for the failure of so many marriages. I would hear that being gay is a horrible sin.
Eventually, I got sick of hearing his crap, and left. I don't know how gay people reconcile their faith with their gayness, but I couldn't. (For those that do, kudos to you!)
All that being said, I have a question. You speak of rights, so here goes:
WHAT ABOUT MY RIGHTS??
-My right to live my life free from pulpit persecution?
-My right to live my life without you trying to force your beliefs down my throat?
-My right to live with who I want? To love who I want? To MARRY who I want?
You want your rights? Well, you've got them. Now shut up and let me have mine!!!
